Words of Wisdom

Words of Wisdom
Our Vision
Posted by Sarah

A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, and a spoken word in due season, how good it is! - Proverbs 15:23 (NKJV)

Words of Wisdom is the vision Jesus gave to the church in Titus 2:4-5 (New Living translation), saying, “These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, to live wisely and to be pure, to take care of their homes, and to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God.” Although times have changed, we believe this vision has not.  Jesus laid out these instructions for the church to have spiritual health and so we desire to continue the vision today.

Following the example of mentor and mentee’s in the Bible, like Moses and Joshua, Naomi and Ruth, or Paul and Timothy, we too believe our generation is also in need of mentoring (discipleship) from older women. This is where Words of Wisdom comes into play. As a blog written by young women for young women, I felt there was a missing element in our ministry -we needed the voice of an older, spiritually mature woman. Feeling there was a lack of good mentors, the absence of a mother, the desire for younger women to be loved, and a need for older women to come alongside the younger, I felt we should do something new. This began with Words of Wisdom, a monthly devotion that echoes the heart of Moses in Psalm 90 who desired to reach the next generation for Christ.

Words of Wisdom comes from the voice of an older woman who has this desire. So how does Titus 2:4-5 work practically? Well, we take those principles underlined in scripture (i.e. marriage, raising children, walking in purity, and wisdom, along with every other practical way it means to teach younger women) and we talk about it. This means helping younger women live the Christian life and provide an open dialogue with those who need answers. This also means we will talk about real life/relevant issues, gain a biblical perspective, and laugh along the way as you enjoy the writing from the heart of woman who reflects back on life and shares what she has learned and what she can pass on to you.

With ever changing technology, we felt it was only best to reach younger women through blogging and social media. Although our generation looks different, we believe they are still need guidance, love, a listening ear, and in need of a Savior, Jesus Christ. It is our prayer Words of Wisdom will provide you with a fun loving mentor and friend to help you along in the journey of life. She’s a great one, I should know - she’s my Mom, Selma.
